How to start looking

To start looking for a hotel, go to the MrBuyGuy Hotels page. You can do this by clicking on Hotels on the menu at the top of the page or by clicking on the Hotels tab.

Once you're on the Hotels page, you can choose any of a number of different ways to search:

1. If you're already sure about your destination, you can use the search box. Use the dropdown boxes to enter your requirements—place, the dates of your stay and the number of guests and rooms—and click then Search. You'll be brought to a page that lists all the hotels that meet your needs.

2. Browse our Top Destinations if you haven't made up your mind about where you want to go. Clicking one of the destinations will take you to a page listing all the hotels in that city.

3. Clicking on one of our Trending Hotels will take you directly to the page for that hotel.

4. If you click on Browse all Destinations, you'll be taken to a page where you can browse for hotels by country.

I won an item but no longer want to buy it. What should I do?

You are obliged to buy the item that won, as your bid is considered a contract.

If you think you  have a valid reason for cancelling your purchase, contact the seller and explain your position. The seller may understand your concern and be willing to work with you. If the seller does not accept your explanation, you must purchase the item. if you fail to do so, an unpaid item will be documented in your account. Too many unpaid items can lead to account restriction or suspension.

I can't find the item I listed. Where is it?

Listings are not searchable until 24 hours after they are placed.

Ttry one of these methods to find your listing.

  • View the listing in your dashboard.
  • Search by seller, using Advanced Seach.
  • Search by item number, using Advanced Search. Your confirmation email from MrBuyGuy will state your item number.

How will you protect my personal information?

We have many checks in place to make sure your personal information stays safe. We won't share any of your personal information with a third party unless you give us your consent first. To learn more about how we protect your privacy, please see our Privacy Policy.

I have paid for an item but have not received it. What should I do?

If you have paid for an item but you have not received it, or if you have not heard from the seller since paying for the item,  your first course of action should be to contact the seller.  Bear in mind that on weekends and on public holidays sellers might not be working.  Give the seller sufficient time to get back to you.

If you fail to hear back from the seller after a reasonable length of time, your next course of action is to use MrBuyGuy Buyer Protection.

To do this, select Dispute under the Choose option next to your won auction.  This will take you to the Dispute section where you can enter in the details of the dispute you would like to submit.  Once you have completed and submitted your information, the seller will be notified and a formal dispute wlll be placed  against them.  The seller will then be prompted to reply to the dispute.

Tthe buyer and seller should work together to solve the problem.

If the seller does not reply, MrBuyGuy will intervene and try to contact the seller for you.  In some cases, we will suspend the seller and pass details on to law enforcements to bring legal action against sellers who are committing fraud.

Can I sell my items internationally?

Yes, you can. However, you will have to meet the requirements for listings in each country. Also, with each country the laws of the land change and you will have to comply with the rules of that country.

How do I stop spam?

Spam means emails you don't want. Spam can include unwanted advertising, pornography and scams designed to cheat you out of your money.

Sometimes spam comes from companies or websites you've already registered with. Most reputable companies will have an unsubscribe option in their emails. Clicking on unsubscribe will stop the company from sending you unwanted emails.

Often, however, spam comes from people or companies you've never heard of. They guess, buy or steal your email address.

Spam from MrBuyGuy Members

If you receive unwanted emails from another MrBuyGuy member, you can make a complaint at the Information Commissioner's Office website.

Here are some tips to help reduce spam:

  • Don't publish your email address on the Internet.
  • Don't choose an email address that spammers could guess easily, like ‘your_name@hotmail.com’.
  • Only give your main email address to people and companies you trust. If a website you're going to use only once asks you for an email address, get a new, free email address just for that site.
  • Read the privacy policies of the websites you visit. A good privacy policy should guarantee that the website will never sell your email address. See MrBuyGuy's privacy policy.
  • Use the highest anti-spam setting on your email program. But be careful. This could send some emails you do want into your junk folder. Be sure to check your junk folder regularly.
  • If you've already received spam, don't open it. Opening spam will tells the spammer that your email address is valid. They'll  keep on spamming you and could sell your email address to other spammers
  • Turn off email images. You can do this by changing your email program's default settings. A spammer can use an image within an email to tell if you've opened it.
  • Don't forward any marketing emails to your friends, or they'll be spammed, too.

Your Internet Service Provider and email program will be able to provide you with more tools for reducing spam.
